The Galt Beautification Committee recently held the dedication of the Marian O. Lawrence Library Memorial Rose Garden. The Beautification Committee felt that the library is a part of Galt’s history and that it would be appropriate to establish the memorial rose garden there. They also wanted to remember Amber Clark, a librarian at the North Natomas Library of our Sacramento County Library system that was killed last December in the library parking lot where she worked.

Along with Clark’s plaque and planted rose was a memorial for Major David Stiffler, Vernon and Hilda Hoff, Shirley Turner and Dawnja Stribling. Their family members were in attendance at the dedication.

Also in attendance was Rivkah Sass, director of the Sacramento County Library System, Galt City Councilman Paul Sandhu, the Galt Beautification Committee, and Galt librarian Samantha LeBlanc.

The Galt Beautification Committee wishes to thank and acknowledge Goia Parrish for her hard work to make the Memorial Rose Garden a reality. The rose garden would like to expand, depending on future plans for the flea market and surrounding area, which is part of the development plans being considered.
