Parade Entry

Archives 1.jpg

A photographer snapped this photo of a man trying to hand-start a car before it took its place in a Fourth of July parade in Galt around 1920. The entry represents the Valley Oaks Grange of Galt, which, at the time, was a six-year-old fledgling of the national organization. The Grange, officially named the National Grange of the Order of Patrons of Husbandry, is an American social organization encouraging farmers and ranchers to band together to promote the economic well being of their communities and agricultural livelihoods.
