Shots fired on Fifth Street

Galt police officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Fifth Street Monday evening, Sept. 9 at 5:59 p.m. for a report of shots fired.

Officers arriving on scene discovered that both the victim and suspect had fled the scene. Officers collected casings and discovered a discarded handgun.

According to Lt. Brian Kalinowski the evidence collected from the scene indicates eight shots had been fired – one striking an unoccupied and uninvolved vehicle.

Kalinowski could not confirm whether or not the incident was gang related as neither a victim nor suspect have been identified.
