From 1937 to 1953, Galt was the home of the Sacramento County Fair. Most of the fairgrounds took up the space where the Galt Flea Market is and the area bounded by C Street, Civic Drive and Caroline Avenue. A racetrack allowed spectators to see horse racing, automobile stunts and motorcycle races; and 4-H and FFA members showed their months of hard work in the livestock area. The administration building on the corner of Chabolla and Caroline avenues (Chabolla Community Center) had displays of produce, city displays and handmade items. This truck and wagon were pulled around town as a rolling advertisement, courtesy of the local VFW.
