This month, I would like to tell you about the progress we are making on opening the Galt Senior Resource Center, located at the Chabolla Center, 610 Chabolla Avenue – right next to Parks & Recreation.
The commission has been busy getting ready to open this new tool for our seniors by June 15.
We’ve turned a large storage room into an office, with the help of Parks & Recreation, members of the commission and the cooperation of the Galt Senior Club.
There will be pamphlets, leaflets and brochures available for you to take that give lots of useful information regarding agencies and businesses catering to the senior population.
We’ve had about six people volunteer to staff it and I urge you, if you have an interest in volunteering, to do so by calling the number below.
The purpose of this Galt Senior Resource Center is to be available to the senior population of the city of Galt either in person, or by phone, to answer questions or provide information about the various resources available within our city or nearby cities, specific to seniors.
Hours of operation will be Monday – Thursday (excluding holidays) from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. To reach staff volunteers, call (209) 745-7332; if calling after hours, leave a message for a call-back during office hours.
We encourage you to visit or call us at the Galt Senior Resource Center, and we also invite you to share its existence (after June 15) with your fellow seniors.
As always, be safe, be healthy, be happy!
Bob Balliet is the chairman of the Galt Commission on Aging.
