During a ceremony last week at the State Capitol, Assemblyman Jim Cooper (D-Elk Grove) officially delivered $1.7 million dollars in state funding to the city of Galt.

In June, Governor Gavin Newsom signed the 2019-20 State Budget, which included $1.7 million dollars in funding that Assemblyman Jim Cooper spearheaded to provide much-needed renovations to Galt’s Walker Community Park.

“Yesterday was a momentous day for the city of Galt,” said Assemblyman Cooper. “It’s an honor to deliver this critical funding for the residents of the city of Galt, one of the fastest growing cities in our region.”

“This is wonderful, amazing news for the youth and people of Galt,” Mayor Paige Lampson said. “We are so happy Assemblyman Cooper looked at our projects at Walker Community Park and had the foresight to help. These funds will help us address infrastructure issues and build additional restrooms.”

Walker Community Park is located at 380 West Elm Avenue in Galt and includes soccer and football fields, playgrounds, pavilions, BBQ pits, and plenty of space for recreational activities for families and youth of all ages.
