Festa parade in Thornton shows Portuguese culture

As part of its annual Festa, honoring its namesake and Portuguese culture, the Our Lady of Fatima Society of Thornton held a parade and street fair on Oct. 15. Vendors lined North Sacramento Boulevard in Thornton with arrays of food, toys and handicrafts, and attendees spoke Portuguese with friends and family. A line formed as people waited to pray in front of a statue of Our Lady of Fatima. When the parade got underway, groups demonstrated Portuguese folk dances and trades.
