Just in time for the holidays and Christmas shopping season, the Galt District Chamber of Commerce and Galt Shop Local Committee, in conjunction with The Galt Herald, announced last week three contests that could award an individual up to $100 cash or over $500 in gift certificates.
In an effort to help residents discover local merchants, Galt Shop Local has devised several fun games to bring customers and merchants together, and many lucky contest winners may walk away with extra spending money.
Bringing back Christmas Bingo, Galt Shop Local is hosting the Christmas Grid game. Participants just need to clip out the Christmas Grid from The Galt Herald (see page A9) and visit the businesses listed on the game card to have merchants stamp their corresponding square.
Running around town discovering local businesses could land you a chance to choose a gift box off the Littleton Community Christmas Tree after the last performance during Lighting of the Night on Dec. 7. Each box is sponsored by the participating businesses. Each box has a cash prize ranging from $1 to $100, just in time for some Christmas cash!
With many squares on the grid, Galt Shop Local has provided additional ways to earn raffle tickets to be entered for a chance to choose a box off the tree.
For every three squares stamped, participants can earn one raffle ticket. If a participant fills out the entire grid by visiting every business to receive their stamp, they will earn five bonus tickets. Once a player is finished with their grid, they can present their game card to The Galt Herald to receive their tickets. See full rules on the game card grid.
The second game only requires you to do what you are already doing – shop, locally of course. For every $10 you spend you earn a contest ticket. Participants simply need to present their receipts of $10 or more from Galt businesses to The Galt Herald to receive a ticket to be entered in a random drawing for a gift certificate package worth over $500, courtesy of many local merchants. Gift certificates are great for gift giving, stuffing stockings or quietly keeping for yourself.
There’s no limit on how many receipts you redeem; the more you shop, the more receipts you receive and the more opportunities you have at winning. Receipts can be from any local merchant, whether it’s retail shopping, gas, dining or service related industries, such as car repair and heating and air. Receipts must have dates coinciding with contest dates, Nov. 13 – Dec. 18, 2019, to be eligible for tickets.
Once again local businesses will compete in a holiday decorating contest. Stop by to see their decorations so you can vote for your favorite business on The Galt Herald website, www.galtherald.com. While you’re there, snap a selfie with their decorations and upload it to The Galt Herald Facebook page, https://www. facebook.com/TheGaltHerald to be entered to win $25 cash, courtesy of your local newspaper. Each picture submitted will enter your name into the random drawing. Upload your photo by 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 18.
All Christmas grid and receipt entries must be turned in to The Galt Herald, 604 N. Lincoln Way, by 4:30 p.m. on the last day of each contest, and remember only one grid per household. No late entries will be eligible to win. No facsimiles will be accepted, and all grids must be cut from The Galt Herald to be eligible to win.
Winners for each contest will be randomly drawn at 5 p.m. on the last day of the corresponding contest. Christmas grid and receipt winners will be notified by phone and all winners will be announced in the Dec. 25 Galt Herald.
