Herald Fire Protection District (HFPD) directors are seeking a fifth member to join them to lead the district.

During the 2018 election, two seats were up for reelection; however, only Director Brian Hurlbut chose to seek to retain his seat. With no other individuals making a run, directors now need to appoint someone to that open seat.

Board members addressed the open position at their Nov. 15 meeting where they decided to solicit letters of interest from community members that reside within the district boundary. The chosen candidate will fulfill the four-year term.

Interested candidates can submit their letters to Station 87, 12746 Ivie Road, or mail them to the district at P.O. Box 52, Herald, CA 95638. Letters must be received by Dec. 31.

Board members will conduct interviews, as needed, in January and are looking to appoint a new director at the January meeting and swear the appointee in at the February meeting.
