Johnathan Jonas knows a teacher has to make a good connection with students to be an effective educator. Both teacher Brooke Beckett and Principal Kellie Beck recognized his “gift” early on in his career at Galt High. Beckett nominated Jonas for Teacher of the Year.
“Since Mr. Jonas began his career here at Galt High School, I have known he has a gift when it comes to teaching and working with our youth,” Beck said. “Mr. Jonas is inclusive, kind and supportive to all our students no matter what their passions are and at the same time he pushes them to achieve to meet their true potential.”
Mayor Paige Lampson is also an educator and she said Jonas is perfect for Teacher of the Year.
“Jonathan Jonas is a teacher who really relates well to the students,” Lampson said. “His classes are lively and engaging. He goes the extra mile with his link crew welcoming the incoming freshmen and helping to make sure they have the tools and relationships for success. Jonas is also the tennis coach and spends lots of hours after school coaching the team.”
Beck said Jonas’ dedication and connection with students makes him a stand-out educator.
“Students adore Mr. Jonas, he is encouraging and empowers students to try new things on campus,” Beck said. “I think what makes him amazing as a person is that he leads by example, he takes risks and challenges himself to be the best version of himself daily. Mr. Jonas is passionate about his career in education. He has found his calling in working with young people to support them to find their own passions in life.”
