The bullet-riddled Range Rover involved in a shooting on March 25

A shooting on Hood Franklin Road left a man with significant injuries and his vehicle riddled with bullet holes, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office reported.

The sheriff’s office first learned of the shooting when it received a call from a man on the 1300 block of Hood Franklin Road, saying he had been shot in the torso while driving east.

When deputies arrived at the scene, the man “was alert and talking even though he had sustained significant injuries after being shot in the stomach and lower back,” the sheriff’s office said in a release on March 30.

The victim said he had been driving his Range Rover when another vehicle forced him to pull over. At that point, the driver of the other vehicle began shooting at the man, who was able to crawl out of the passenger side of the Range Rover and escape into a field.

Detectives recovered more than 60 shell casings and found more than 20 bullet marks on the driver’s side of the Range Rover. At the time of the attack, the victim was not able to give information on the perpetrator.

“No arrests have been made and there is no additional information at this time,” the release said.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about the attack to contact the sheriff’s office at 916-874-5115 or Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at 916-443-HELP (4357). Anonymous tips can be made at sacsheriff.com or 916-874-TIPS (8477).
