After several opportunities to hear presentations on the Galt Market Community Plan, the Galt District Chamber of Commerce will host a public forum Monday, Nov. 4 at 6 p.m., at the Littleton Community Center, at which Galt area residents will have the opportunity to ask questions and provide additional input on the topic.
Facilitated by chamber members, this forum will allow for a review of the market plan and then open for questions and answers between the public and city staff members.
Parks and Recreation Director Armando Solis, Interim City Manager Tom Haglund, Community Development Director Chris Erias and Economic Development Manager Amie Mendes will deliver the informational presentation, after which they will entertain questions from attendees.
Light refreshments will be served.
Why a new plan?
According to city staff, the Galt Market revenue is in a steady decline due to a shift in retail consumer behavior and increased operation costs.
As the main source of funding for the Parks and Recreation Department, staff is exploring options to help maintain or expand the revenue for the department.
Assisting in looking for options are Lewis Group and Williams + Paddon.
Staff and the two companies recognize that the market area, approximately 10 acres, is underutilized, and are seeking better opportunities that don’t limit revenues to two days a week.
At previous presentations, Solis, Mendes, Haglund and Erias all indicated that maintaining or enhancing funding for Parks and Recreation is the priority for this market plan, as well as enhancing the market area, making it a more community friendly venue.
