According to Lt. Brian Kalinowski, officers responded to a traffic collision on McFarland Street on Saturday, Oct. 24 at 10:45 a.m. The single vehicle collision downed a power pole, and 4,186 residents were without power.

The driver of a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro collided with the utility pole on the south side of A Street while trying to turn off of McFarland onto A Street. The passenger complained of pain and was transported to Kaiser South for treatment.

Christopher Capra of SMUD News Service said they rerouted the power to another circuit and quickly restored power to about 2,400 customers within 20 minutes.

“Within about 1 hour, we restored all but 15 customers,” Capra said. “Those were (the customers) closest to the pole that was hit.”
