Galt has been the site of two violent crimes in as many days. A person was reportedly stabbed on Sept. 11 in a domestic violence incident at a house near Highway 99, and a shooting in western Galt on Sept. 12 has reportedly left one man dead and two other people injured.

The stabbing occurred on Wendy Hope Drive, and the department received a report of the attack at 11:06 p.m., according to incident logs. The agency arrested Sergio Eduardo Alfaro on charges of attempted murder, domestic violence, child endangerment and parole violation.

“We will not be providing any additional info on the stabbing due to the nature of the event,” Galt police Capt. Richard Small said in an email.

The shooting took place on McFarland Street, with police responding to reports of a man with a gun at 8:11 p.m.

In a statement, the Galt Police Department said it found a man in the street with a lethal gunshot wound. The man was later identified as Jimmy Crisp, 25, of Galt.

Soon after, police received reports of “possibly three additional gunshot victims who were seeking treatment at local hospitals” but eventually determined that only two other people had been shot.

The department said that “several individuals were detained and several interviews were conducted” in its investigation but that no arrests have been made.

“Due to the nature of the investigation, no further information is being released at this time,” the statement read.
