Aurora Aquino Dacanay, 95, of Thornton died on Aug. 2, 2019. She was born March 16, 1924 in Manaoag, Philippines, and had lived 74 years in Thornton.

Aurora was a homemaker and seasonal supervisor for the Thornton Cannery. She was a member of the Altar Guild of Mater Ecclesiae Catholic Church, and she enjoyed gardening in her yard, reading the newspaper, watching Jeopardy, David Letterman and the news. She collected family photos and had traveled abroad to Europe and Asia.

Surviving her are her children: Alfonso Jr. of Stockton, Edward of Elk Grove, William (and Jill) of San Jose; Elizabeth (and Gary) Keewood of Reno, Nev., Arthur (and Cathy) of Vacaville, Donald of Fairfield and Richard of Stockton; nine grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Rosary will br held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 13 at Ben Salas Funeral Home in Galt.

A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m., on Thursday, Aug. 14 at Mater Ecclesiae Catholic Church in Thornton, with committal following at Cherokee Memorial Park in Lodi.
