Brad De Wit

Brad De Wit, 63, of Acampo passed away on March 12, 2020 in his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Regent, North Dakota to John and Jackie De Wit on Feb. 13, 1957.

Brad attended several elementary schools, including Oak View School for his eighth grade year, where he met his future wife. Shelley and Brad were married on Oct. 21, 1978 in Stockton. Brad was a dairyman farmer his entire life. He started working for his father at the family dairy at 6610 E. Collier Road in Acampo. He loved his cows and was happiest at the dairy.

The family grew with a total of five children. Dairy life was hard at times and at others a rolling comedy. With the family’s involvement, the dairy continued to improve and expand through the years. Son David also shares the love of cows, and his younger brother Eric enjoys farming. Brad was happy and grateful the dairy would continue for another generation.

Preceding Brad in death were his father John De Wit and mother Jackie De Wit, in addition to his aunt Annie Jacobs, sister-in-law Karen Grenz and various other relatives.

Brad is survived by his wife of 41½ years, Shelley De Wit; children, David, Matthew, Eric, Jill and Ethan, along with grandchildren Ella, Caroline and Case De Wit; and sisters, Marcia, Bernice, Nancy, Tricia and Janel.

Burial will beat the Lodi Memorial Cemetery at 5750 E. Pine Street in Lodi.

Lodi Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

Due to the current medical concerns, the family is not able to provide services for friends and family. They will proceed with services and memorial reception at a later date, to be announced by invitation.

Memorials may be made to St. Christopher’s Church in Galt.

The family of Brad De Wit wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the wonderful friends and family in and around the community, along with agricultural colleagues, for their unending support.
