Brenton R. Stetson

Brenton Robert Stetson, 65, died April 9, 2019. He was born Sept. 24, 1953 as the first of six children to Bob and Peggy Stetson of Elk Grove.

Brent graduated from Elk Grove High School and then joined the Army to serve his country with pride. Upon his return, he brought Miss Mary Wright of England home to become his wife. They built a home in Wilton and raised their son Ian there.

As life goes, Brent and Mary parted ways, and Brent moved to Big Bar in the Trinity Alps of California, where he was in his element and able to explore the mountains, hunt, hike, fish, ride his horses, garden and cook. He was a great large animals chef and cooked for 1,000.

Preceding Brent in death were his parents, Bob and Peggy. Surviving him are his son Ian Stetson; brother Sullivan Stetson; sisters, Carrie (Ron) Blighton, Marty Stetson, Nancy Stetson and Laurie (Dan) Cargile; plus many nieces and nephews. Brent will be missed by all for his humor, quick wit, true lies and great stories. He was willing to help those in need and cared for Mother Earth, but mostly his wonderful lifelong friends who never gave up on their friendship.

In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Stetson Ceramics, c/o Ian Stetson, P.O. Box 3280, Weaverville, CA 95093.
