Dale J. Hollison

Dale Joseph Hollison, 71, of Galt passed away on March 29, 2019 after a long battle with cancer. He was born Jan. 15, 1948 to Dale and Ruth Hollison.

Dale moved to Galt with his family in 1965 and graduated from Galt High School where he held the record for shot put for many years. After he graduated, he joined the Navy where he served as an aviation structure mechanic on the USS Hancock from 1968-1969 and the USS Midway from 1970-1971. After an honorable discharge, he moved back to Galt and married JoAnn Whaley in 1981 and helped raise her two sons. They divorced in 1995 and he never remarried.

Dale worked at the Constellation Winery for many years. After he retired from there, he worked part-time as a security guard. His hobbies were flirting with women, reading, watching TV and going to the movies.

Surviving him are two sisters, Peggy Smith and Connie Trotti of Galt; brother, Roger Hollison of Galt; two stepsons, Gene Smith and Gary Smith; and many nieces and nephews. He was dearly loved and will always be missed by his family.

Preceding him in death were his parents and little sister, Ellen Hollison.

A celebration of Dale’s life will be held on Saturday, April 27 from 2-4 p.m., at 13385 Ante-up Lane in Galt.
