David E. Simpson

David Earl Simpson, 69, passed away at his home in Galt on Jan. 17, 2020 from a long-term illness. He was born on Jan. 26, 1951, in Lubbock, Texas to James M. and Nannie Mae Simpson.

In 1955, David and his three brothers were taken to Palo Alto to live with their aunt and uncle, Claudia and Doug Simpson. In 1965, Uncle Doug moved David and the whole family to a 20-acre dairy farm in Galt. David would become one of the beloved classmates of Galt High School Class of 1969. He played football, basketball and made the baseball varsity team as a sophomore, playing second base. David’s classmates remember him as one of the smartest in the class.

David’s friends remember him as caring, giving, funny and always willing to help. He was the one that would show up at Christmas with gifts for everyone.

Preceding David in death were his Uncle Doug and Aunt Claudia Simpson, and his brothers, James Stanley, Kenneth and Larry Simpson. He leaves a sister, Rebecca Kilby.

Because of COVID, a “Celebration of Life” will be announced when it is safe to do so.
