Denise D. Shirley

Denise D. Shirley

Denise Dinell Shirley, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, drew her last breath on Aug. 28, 2020 at the age of 57 in Stockton. Born in Toppenish, Wash. on Feb. 17, 1963, she was the daughter of the late Wayne Lee Shirley Sr. and the late Shirley Martha Dahnke who grew up in Galt. Denise resided in Lodi and loved with her entire heart; family was everything to her, especially her grandchildren. Denise had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. “Tomorrow is her birthday” was an inside joke. Denise didn’t like surprises; if you were sending her a gift, she would try her hardest to get you to tell her what it was before it arrived. Denise feared bugs, lizards and snakes. Some family members got a kick out of sending her plastic/rubber bugs and lizards; Denise, not wanting to throw them away because family sent them, would keep them on the shelf for viewing, only to be teased with them later. Denise had a love for music, but the love was even stronger for Bob Seger; she even called him Bobby Baby.

Denise is survived by her son, Thomas (Tommy) Darrell Dickison III; daughter Tonya Rollins; three grandchildren, Kaden Knapp, Ava Dickison and Adam Rollins; three brothers, Wayne Lee Shirley Jr., Clifford Shirley and Steven Shirley; and sister Linette Whiteman. Preceding her in death were her mother and father, sister Debra (Debbie) Holden and brother George Shirley.
