Donald Joe Poulter, age 77, passed away Friday, January 13, 2023 at Carson Tahoe Hospital, following an illness.

Joe was born on September 24, 1945 in Fresno, California. His parents were Harry and Ellarie (Miller) Poulter. He lived in Silver Springs for about 28 years. Prior to that, Joe resided in Galt for 25 years, where he raised his family.

Joe proudly served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. His decorations, medals, badges consisted of National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal (2 bronze starts) and Vietnam campaign medal (with device). After his discharge he worked as a rancher and then made his way into trucking and drove until he was 76.

Joe loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He enjoyed sharing his love of fishing and antique cars with his grandchildren.

Surviving is one daughter Joanna Poulter of Sacramento, CA; 6 grandchildren Susie Poulter of New Orleans, LA; Travis Poulter of Iowa Park, TX; Joey Poulter of Sacramento, CA; Steven Wentz Reedsport, OR; Tasha (Wentz) Crawford of Estacada, OR; Brent Wentz of Coquille, OR; and 2 great-grandchildren: Samuel Poulter and Navy Smith.

He is preceded in death by his parents Harry and Ellarie (Miller) Poulter, brother Richard Poulter, sister Terry (Poulter) Baker and son Harry Poulter.

Services will be held on April 17 at 11 a.m. at the Galt Cemetery, 14180 Joy Drive.
