Jewel went to school in Cotton Center until the age of 10, then moved around several places in Texas. Hearing from family in California at the age of 17, the family moved to California where Jewel went to work at Camp Hern Army Camp as a clerk typist until the family moved to Galt because they had family here.
It was here in Galt at the Christian church in town on Easter Sunday in 1947 that she met Glenn Frantson. They were married in February 1948 and honeymooned in San Francisco, making their first home in Galt. They had three children: Glenda, Melody and Ron.
Jewel was a mother, a room mother at school, a Bluebird leader, a Sunday school teacher. She sang in the choir and was church hostess for the Galt Bible Church for years. She loved being a hostess, decorating and helping plan the children’s weddings.

Glenn and Jewel got to travel to every state, even Hawaii, when their children took them to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary. They went to Canada, even going to the World’s Fair there, and Mexico. They really enjoyed Disneyland, Knott’s Berry Farm, and Dollywood.
