Franklin Wingo

Franklin Wingo, 79, better known as Frank to all of Galt, passed away peacefully at home on March 21, 2020. He was born in Texas, raised in Oklahoma and, as a teenager, lived in Campbell, Calif. He joined the National Guard as a young man, then married Deanna, started his family in Los Gatos and then quickly bought a home and lived in San Jose for many of his hard-working years, raising his family.

Frank was known as the master of his trade in the woodworking, sales and distribution business for roughly 60 years. As the years progressed, he was promoted to the sales office from the mill where he was sawing the doors and putting them together.

Frank moved to Galt to continue his career, eventually retiring from American Building Supply in 2006.

He accomplished so much with his simple common sense of smarts and gentle kindness. He was a Master Expert in Woodworking and could fix and build anything he set his mind to do.

After retiring, Frank was able to do all the things that brought him happiness. He did what he wanted, when he wanted and how he wanted. Frank was able to live out his retirement dream of having garage sales, a successful eBay business, days of treasure hunting, and have a special organized place to display his treasures to share with others. Frank was known to many as having super garage sales in Galt.

By far, the most passionate dream Frank had was to sell his special antique and unique treasures. He lived that dream this last year. Frank quickly became a top dealer at Vintage Antiques and Uniques, displaying and selling his treasures, telling stories behind every item and enjoying every minute. It would thrill him to bring items to the shop and then get his daily sales report to discover what sold that day.

Frank is survived by his oldest daughter Teresa Walsh, youngest daughter Tami Tatar, his ex-wife Deanna Wingo, and middle sister Helen Markham. He was blessed with three grandchildren, Jennifer, Zachary and Madison. He also leaves behind several “favorite” family members, and best friends Guy and Tyler.

Frank’s service will be held on Wednesday, May 13, at 10 a.m. at All Seasons Funeral Chapel, 702 B Street in Galt. Burial will proceed at Galt-Arno Cemetery, 14180 Joy Drive in Galt.
