Genovevo Gonzales, 62, of Galt died at UCSF Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born Nov. 19, 1956 and grew up in Atwater, where he lived from 1956 to 1992.

He worked as a big rig truck driver and was a parishioner at St. Christopher’s Catholic Church in Galt. He had been an All American wrestler, football player and sports fan of the Raiders and A’s, and had been known as a top line barbecuer.

Surviving him are his wife Maria, sons Phillip and Genovevo, brother Gary, sisters Grace, Gloria and Gilda, and father Genovevo Gonzales.

Preceding him in death is his mother Dalia.

Services will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., on Friday, June 7 at St. Christopher’s Church with Father Miguel Silver presiding. Committal will follow at 12:30 p.m., at Cherokee Memorial Park in Lodi.

All Seasons Funeral Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
