Genovevo Gonzales, 62, of Galt died at UCSF Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born Nov. 19, 1956 and grew up in Atwater, where he lived from 1956 to 1992.
He worked as a big rig truck driver and was a parishioner at St. Christopher’s Catholic Church in Galt. He had been an All American wrestler, football player and sports fan of the Raiders and A’s, and had been known as a top line barbecuer.
Surviving him are wife Maria, sons Phillip and Genovevo; granddaughter Ava, brother Gary, sisters Grace, Gloria and Gilda, and father Genovevo Gonzales. Preceding him in death was his mother Dalia.
Services were held June 7 at St. Christopher’s Church with Father Miguel Silver presiding. Committal followed at Cherokee Memorial Park in Lodi.
