Gloria Dawn Pavon, a resident of Galt since 2015, died of a cardiovascular-related condition April 11 in a Sacramento hospital. She was 79.
Mrs. Pavon was born Gloria McFarland in San Francisco and lived in the East Bay area for most of her life. She worked as a restaurant hostess and occasional waitress for many years, including Ricky's Corner in Rodeo. She particularly enjoyed cruise ship travel, especially vessels' casinos.
Mrs. Pavon was an avid student of history and was a member of the Native Daughters of the Golden West. She was also a member of the Horizon Community Church of Galt.
Mrs. Pavon was preceded in death by her husband, John, of El Sobrante; stepson John (Johnny) Pavon Jr., of Las Vegas; her parents Mildred and Al Herter of Guerneville, CA., and sister Carol Boitnott, of San Francisco.
Survivors include a sister, Sharlene Wilson, of Chico, CA; three daughters, Lori (née Dore) Koehler, Lisa (née Dore) Clements, and Linda (née Dore) Cotton, all of Galt; one son, Michael Joseph Pavon, of El Sobrante; a stepdaughter, Lisa Ann Pavon, of Ft. Smith, AK.; stepson, Robert A. Pavon, of San Antonio, TX., five grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and one niece and four nephews.
Cremation, with ashes scattered at sea, and a celebration life, are planned. Ben Salas Funeral Home of Galt is in charge of arrangements.
