Guadalupe Araiza

Guadalupe Araiza, 85, of Galt passed away peacefully on Nov. 19, 2019, surrounded by her children in Sacramento. She was born in Mexico in 1933 and came to the United States with her husband at the age of 18.

Making her home in Stockton, Lupe raised her four children as a single mother after her divorce. She was an active member of her community and of the St. Linus Catholic Parish until she moved to Galt in 1997 where she continued practicing her faith at St. Christopher Parish.

Lupe retired as a bilingual aide from Stockton Unified School District after 22 years of employment and many years as a volunteer prior to that. She spent her time enjoying many hobbies, including cooking, gardening, sewing, crocheting, knitting and embroidery. She shared her gifts with family and friends throughout her life.

Lupe is survived by four children, Valente Araiza, Juan Ruben Araiza, Ricardo (Lely) Araiza and Loudes (Joseph) Reyes; seven grandchildren, Valente Araiza Jr., David (Alejandrina) Araiza, Lauren (Kristian) Corona, Nicolas Araiza, Joseph/Michael/Daniel Reyes; and two great-grandchildren, Gabriel Corona and David Araiza, and one great-grandchild expected in February.

Funeral services and Mass of Catholic burial will be held at 10 a.m., on Wednesday, Nov. 27 at St. Christopher Catholic Church, 950 S. Lincoln Way in Galt, with burial following at Galt-Arno Cemetery, 14180 Joy Drive in Galt.
