Larry Gene Liebig, 71, of Woodbridge entered the gates of heaven on June 17, 2019. He was born in Lodi and lived in Galt for the first 30 years of his life.
Larry started grade school at the one-room Arno schoolhouse until the school was moved to the newly opened Arcohe School. Later, he graduated from Galt High. While growing up, he worked long hours on the family ranch, along with his nine brothers and sisters. His first paying job was helping to build the Cattlemen’s Livestock Yard just west of his home. He soon went to work for the Pacific Coast Producers in Lodi as a mechanic in the can manufacturing plant, and finished his working career at Woodbridge Golf & Country Club.
Larry was an avid hunter, camper and fisherman, and he shared the outdoors with his children and grandchildren. He was known for his sense of humor, which he never lost, and his loyalty to friends and family.
Larry was a member of Galt’s Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, the Lodi Boat and Ski Club, the Alta Mesa Gun Club and Comanche Hills Hunting Preserve.
Preceding Larry in death were his parents, Fred and Bertha Liebig; brother Lynn Liebig, and sister Betty Gross-Harper.
Surviving him are his wife Darrylin Liebig of Woodbridge; children, Becky (Manuel) Moitoso of Lodi and Russ (Dave) Liebig of West Sacramento; brothers Bob (Jan) Liebig and Fred (Carolyn) Liebig of Galt; sisters, Pauline Miller of Lodi, Clara Miller of Galt, Frieda (Tom) Megna of Rio Vista, Bertha (Ronald) Armstrong of Rancho Cordova, and Rose (Ken) Miller of Galt; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and grandchildren, Macey, Jared and Brayden.
A celebration of love and family will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, July 6 at the Woodbridge Moose Hall.
The family would like to thank those who kept Larry in their thoughts and prayers, and those who visited him during the last few months. They also want to thank his longtime doctors, Dr. Freund and Dr. Hereford.
Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the charity of your choice.
