R.B. McCartney, 89, passed away on Feb. 2, 2020 at UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento. He was born on May 14, 1930 to R.B. Sr. and Dottie Williams in Bradford, Tenn.
R.B. married Thelma Arnold on Nov. 4, 1950 and served in the U.S. Navy from July 1951 to July 1955. He had two children, Barbara Woodel of Elk Grove and Tony McCartney of Spokane, Wash, along with five granddaughters, 13 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
R.B. was employed as a truck driver for ABF Inc., and retired in 1990 after 32 years of service. His main goal in life was witnessing to people and telling them about Jesus. He started numerous churches in the Southern California area during his ministry of 36 years.
R.B. was an avid fisherman, and anytime he had a chance would witness to different people and tell them about Jesus and how to get saved.
Services for R.B. will include a viewing on Thursday, Feb. 13 from 2-7 p.m., at Ben Salas Funeral Home, 149 Fourth Street in Galt; and a funeral service at 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 14 at First Baptist Church, 653 A Street in Galt.
Burial will take place on Monday, Feb. 17 at 10 a.m., at the Dixon National Cemetery, 5810 Midway Road in Dixon.
