Rita Mary Hampton, 81, passed away on Feb. 26, 2019. She was born on Oct. 30, 1937 in Butte Falls, Oregon to Charles and Arline White.

Rita was married for 52 years to Boyd Hampton and together they had five children. Most of their years were spent moving around to different areas of the Northwest working together in construction field. They eventually returned and settled back down in Oregon close to where they had both started. In 2008, Rita moved to Galt after her husband’s passing to be closer to her daughter Amber as well as the rest of her family.

Rita loved the outdoors and mountains. In her earlier years, some of her favorite things to do were hunt, fish and just explore the backroads with her family. She loved fun nights out on the town, dancing and socializing. In her later years, heading out to Happy Hour was one of her favorite things to do, in addition to spending as much time as possible with her family.

Surviving Rita are four of her children, Amber Hurst, Lucinda Johnson, Kirk Hampton and Ruby Lindenburge. She also had nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren who will miss her greatly. Preceding her in death were both of her parents, all five of her siblings, her husband Boyd, her daughter Victoria Vanslambrook, and her son-in-law Stan Hurst.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 23 at Rita’s granddaughter’s house, and she will be laid to rest in Butte Falls Cemetery alongside her husband, father and family.
