Rodney Philip Goehring was born on August 7, 1945 in Lodi, California. He passed away on January 3, 2023 at the age of 77 at home in Wilton.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years Cherie Goehring, son Rodney Goehring, Jr. (Dawn), daughter Allison Cristando (Joe), grandchildren, Chase and Trevor Goehring, Sam and Ruby Cristando, and his dog Fuzz. He is preceded in death by his parents, Philip and Ida Goehring.
Rod was raised on a dairy farm in Galt where he graduated from Galt High School in 1963 and received a two year degree from Delta College in mechanics. After working as a mechanic, he found a career he loved and spent 35 years as a lineman/troubleshooter for SMUD.
Rod and Cherie were married in 1971 and shortly after moved to Wilton where they resided for 42 years. They enjoyed spending time at their second home in Trout Creek, Montana, where their favorite activity was exploring in their jeep.
Rod spent many weekends dirt bike racing and camping with his motorcycle club and family. Later, he supported his son’s love of racing and traveled with him to races as far away as Poland.
Rod was devoted to providing for his family and taking care of the family ranch. He enjoyed working cows and spending time with his horse, dog and friends. He was a loyal friend who was generous and giving of his time and talents. Most evenings, he and his friends could be found sitting around the shop telling stories.
Rod - We will miss your sense of humor and teasing, the heart to heart talks around a warm fire in the shop, and how you showed you cared in your own special way.
A celebration of life (Rod would call it a party), will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, February 11 at the Champaign Ranch (12174 Borden Rd) in Herald, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meals on Wheels by ACC (mowsac.org) in his honor.
