Roger Harris Lindberg

Roger Harris Lindberg

Roger Harris Lindberg was born on March 5, 1933, on a farm outside of Gilby, North Dakota to Joseph and Thelma Lindberg. Roger was the second born child. The first born was a son, Clifford, who unfortunately only lived a few days. After Roger, Joe and Thelma, had a daughter, Barbara. Roger passed away on September 30, 2021, at his home in Galt, California of natural causes at the age of 88 years.

When Roger and Barbara were young the family moved between North Dakota, Minnesota, and California several times. During World War II, they lived in Long Beach so Joe could work in San Pedro building WWII Liberty ships. After the war, they settled in the Galt area. Joe and Roger were both very respected General Contractors for over five decades. In fact, many of the homes and businesses they built can still be found in Galt and the surrounding areas.

In 1953, Roger went into the Air Force three days before his 21st birthday and reported to Lackland Air Force Base in Texas for training. While in the Air Force he became a skilled Aircraft Mechanic and was able to visit Texas, Arizona, Japan, the Philippines, and French-Indo China. He left the Air Force after four years. During his enlistment, he had a brief marriage to Carol which produced one child, a daughter named Teresa.

After the service, Roger returned to Galt where he met and married Nora Dale in 1960. They stayed in Galt and raised their two sons, Steven and Tony in a home built by Roger right next door to Joe and Thelma. Upon Joe’s retirement, Roger took over the business and renamed it - Roger Lindberg Construction. He was an extremely hard worker, raised to do his best and provide for his family. He was proud of the work he did and strived to be remembered as a fair businessman and friend to all he met.

A favorite hobby of Roger’s was league bowling. He bowled on quite a few teams over the years, bowling with his dad and two sons. They participated in many bowling tournaments. Roger and Nora owned the bowling alley in Galt, Cherokee Lanes, for a short time.

Roger and Nora divorced and in 1993 Roger married Lila Mueller. They were introduced by his sister, Barbara, and they shared a North Dakota background. Roger and Lila enjoyed many activities with their friends. They belonged to the Dakota Club of Lodi and the Lodi Moose Lodge along with two RV groups: the Lodi Trailer Club and the Assorted Nuts Trailer Club. Roger and Lila remained married until her death in 2016.

Roger is a lifetime member of the Moose Lodge and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Roger is survived by his two sons, Steve and Tony (Sonja), both of Galt, California. He also leaves behind five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, along with a niece and nephew. He was preceded in death by his wife Lila, parents Joseph and Thelma Lindberg, sister Barbara Mueller and grandson Anthony Lindberg.

At Roger’s request, services will be graveside: Cherokee Memorial Park Cemetery, Lodi, California on Friday, October 8, 2021, at 10:00 am.
