Steven “Stevie” Dean Jewell Jr., 44, died Aug. 10, 2021. He was born in Newark, Ohio on Feb. 7, 1977 to Heather Rechelle Davis and Steven Dean Jewell.

Stevie attended school in Galt, Calif. and Newark, Ohio. While in California as a youngster, Stevie tried out for baseball and was the star pitcher, winning a trophy for his pitching skills. The coaches said that, if he’d continue, Stevie could end up in professional baseball. Stevie had a sense of humor and had his mother and other family members laughing all the time. While in Ohio, Stevie switched from baseball to skateboarding. Stevie had a kind heart and was always trying to make everyone smile.

Stevie is survived by his mother, Heather Kessel (Rene Guniga) of Galt; father, Steven (Melissa) of Newark, Ohio; sisters, Brittany Jewell of Newark, Ohio and Stephanie Jewell of Mansfield, Ohio; grandfather, William F. Davis Jr. (Marlene) of Springfield, Ill.; grandmother, Thea Brown of Hermiston, Ore.; aunts, Hollie Huff of Hermiston, Ore. and Nelda Deputy of Hermiston, Ore.; uncle, Christopher Smith of Hermiston, Ore.; aunts, Evaine Davis (Jonathon) of Pensacola, Fla. and Myrtle (Mike) Petitt of Middletown, N.Y.; uncles, Jeremy Davis Sr. and John Ryan of Newark, Ohio; aunt, Heather Helwig of Newark, Ohio; grandmother, Ann (Robert) Slaughter; cousins, Destiny Morton, Jeremy Davis Jr. and Kayla Davis of Newark, Ohio and Summer Davis of Heath, Ohio. He was preceded in death by grandmother Kathy Kirkbride and great aunt Robin Davis.
