Walter Caldwell, formerly of Galt, passed away on Dec. 12, 2022, at his residence in Parkston, South Dakota. Surviving him are his daughter, Kimberly, and numerous nieces and nephews. His wife, Norma (nee Huether), preceded him in death in 2006. Married in 1957, they later adopted Kim in 1970.

Walt graduated from Galt High School and served in the National Guard. He worked as a gas station attendant as a young man, eventually buying his own Chevron station. He went into partnership to buy his first AM-PM station. He had AM-PM stations in Sacramento and Stockton. After Walt retired in 2007, he and Kim moved to South Dakota.

A remembrance for Walt will be held at Ben Salas Funeral Home, 149 Fourth Street, Galt, at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2022.
