William Richard Kelly, 77, of Galt died on May 29, 2020 after a 1½-year battle with cancer. He was born April 17, 1943 in the San Fernando Valley, where he was raised.
Bill grew up admiring the cowboys of his time and loved all things horses. He shared this passion with his wife Joann who he met at the stables. Bill and Joann raised their family in Santa Clarita for 38 years before moving to Galt three years ago.
Bill managed restaurants, including Bob’s Big Boy and Denny’s before fulfilling his dream of owning his own restaurant. He spent his last 10 years in the industry, running his restaurant Big John’s in Frazier Park with the help of his wife Joann. He loved classic cars, specifically Corvettes. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and taking his kids and grandkids camping.
Surviving Bill are his wife Joann of Galt; daughters Shannon Casillas of Thousand Oaks and April Shilliam of Galt; five grandchildren, Jayden, Payton, Morgan, Hattie and Morley; sisters Peggy Miller and Kathy Dreyfus; many nieces and nephews; and dear friend Dorothy Huggs.
Preceding Bill in death were his father James Kelly, mother Margaret Kelly, brother James Kelly and sister Pat Bates.
No services will be held. All Seasons Funeral Chapel of Galt is assisting with arrangements.
