Galt had already beat Calaveras in its first playoff game of the series, so this was do or die for Calaveras. The game was close, each team not scoring in the first few innings.

Calaveras didn’t have to do much offensively; in fact, they only scored one run on two errors at the top of the third, but that was enough. They only needed one to tie up the series last Wednesday afternoon in the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Division IV playoffs.

Galt Pitcher Aidan Hall did a tremendous job striking out 10 batters but, when a ball from catcher Mason Tassano wasn’t caught by first baseman Sebastian Soto, you could see and hear Hall’s frustration when the inning was over. Hall yelled, “Can I get some (expletive) help out here.”

The Warriors collected six hits and had runners left on base in five of the seven innings, but just could not capitalize on those opportunities.

With the series tied, Galt headed to Calaveras where it wasn’t without a fight; Calaveras had only scored two runs in two games against Galt, but the Warriors lost 4-8. Calaveras was able to grab one run in the first and second innings, but Galt scored two in the third along with Calaveras.

The Warriors were able to load up the bases with only one out in the top of the fourth. With a fly out, Calaveras was able to tag a runner at the plate that resulted in a double play to prevent Galt from scoring that inning. A two-run home run for Calaveras in the sixth inning put them ahead 8-4 and Galt just wasn’t able to make a comeback.
