Galt soccer named their All-League players at their banquet last week. Having a successful league championship season, the Warriors get the most All-League players for a total of six. Those that earned the All-League patch are Miguel Garcia, Edgar China, Oscar Avalos, Josue Diaz, Vincente Marquez and Bryan Lozano.
Junior Miguel Garcia was also named League MVP by a vote of the league coaches, and head coach Alejandro Renteria was voted Coach of the Year by his peers.
Renteria, a physical education teacher at Galt High was a star soccer player himself when he attended there. “I am so honored the coaches thought I was worthy enough for this honor,” said Renteria. “Our goal as coaches is to change the culture and not just be about winning, but about the whole person. We want our athletes to be good students, honest, respectful, ethical, and hard-working contributors to our community. The fact that the other coaches recognized this in our program means we are successful in our goals. I love these kids, they impress me every day, and I want thank them for working so hard this season. Thank you also to my administration for all their support. I am looking forward to what next season brings.”
