So far GHS boys’ soccer has come away ahead of Elk Grove, Stagg, McClatchy and Laguna Creek; however, they were only able to tie against Weston Ranch last week.

Head Coach Alfredo Renteria has a goal for his team to be more efficient in front of the goal and come out stronger.

“Last night was a tough game and we were lucky to tie in the final minutes of the game,” Renteria said. “Both teams missed a lot of chances but at the end we were only able to score one. We came alive and had more urgency in the last 15 minutes.”

Renteria is optimistic about the season.

“We are working to be the powerhouse we used to be,” Renteria said. “We will need a lot of hard work to improve. Most boys have come from playing with their competitive teams; so, for the most part, they are in shape. It has been hard to keep them all together, though, because of players going on quarantine. I’m sure that will be an obstacle throughout the year for everyone.”

Galt’s next home game will be Jan. 6 against El Dorado.
