Galt High School football hosted Calaveras this last Friday in their last game before league season begins.
It was almost a comeback “Cinderella” story as Galt battled from behind and the final score was Calaveras 35, Galt 31.
The whole first half did not go Galt’s way at all. They were unsuccessful finding that end zone and went into half time at a 28-0 deficit.
Things were getting heated with lots of penalties and one Galt player ejected, and witnesses say he flipped a couple of “birds” on his way off the field.
However, the Warriors were not ready to give up and were able to come back after halftime ready to play. They scored 12 points in the third quarter and only allowed Calaveras one touchdown.
During the fourth quarter, Galt was able to take advantage of some real opportunities and put a whopping 19 points up, and defense didn’t allow Calaveras to score any. Galt was on its way to the end zone again when time ran out.
Quarterback Cole Erman kept the ball and put 12 of those points on the board himself. Erman rushed for 151 yards and passed for 194.
Kayson Jones, Austin Sullivan and Russel Brown also scored one touchdown each. Jones received 71 yards, Sullivan 70 and Brown 38. Brown also rushed for 112 yards.
Galt will face Rosemont this Friday for their homecoming. More photos can be found at www.tomsantillan.smugmug.com.
