Galt Tennis had two wins this last week. The first was their last home game against Rosemont and their senior night. Then they traveled to Union Mine and demolished their opponents.
The Warriors are currently sharing a second-place ranking with Liberty Ranch, but the Hawks still have some rained out matches to make up. El Dorado is first in league with 7 wins and zero losses.
Head Coach Alex Bauer says it was a gritty 8-1 win over Union Mine Thursday. He was happy to comment on some of the matches.
“Our boys #1 singles player Felipe Aguilar (11th grade) went 3-0 this week, defeating a previously unbeaten El Dorado #1,” said Bauer. “He dropped the first set and fell behind 5-0 in the second set before orchestrating a thrilling 3-6, 7-5, 6-3 victory.”
“UC bound and our #1 girls singles player Adamary Herrera (12th grade) dropped the first set 6-1 before storming back and winning a three setter,” explained Bauer. “Adamary is the team’s grinder, frequently taking her opponents to three sets before pouncing for the win.”
“Our boys #1 doubles team of Armando Cahue (12th grade) and Ramon Gomez (11th) defeated their opponents in three sets as well. They lost to them three weeks ago so it showed great resilience to win on the rebound like that.”
Our girls #1 doubles is anchored by the solid and graceful Alexa Murillo (11th grade) and Emma Christian (11th grade),” said Bauer. “As usual they dominated their opponents.”
While team play is finished, some of the Warriors hope to move on in their individual matches.
