The Hawk basketball team faced El Dorado for their senior night last week. Previously in the season they had lost to El Dorado in a heartbreaking close game, 58-55.

The Hawks outscored the Cougars 11-9 in the first quarter, but the Cougars caught up and the score at halftime was Liberty Ranch 23, El Dorado 25. The Hawks came back after half time and had a fantastic third quarter outscoring the Cougars 20-8. The fourth quarter, El Dorado came back and outscored Liberty Ranch 13-10, but it wasn’t enough and the Hawks won 53-46.

With their loss to Rosemont later in the week, the Hawks are tied with Bradshaw Christian for third place with a 5-5 record but ranked fourth in league. The defending section champions will play Summerville in their first playoff game at home Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Eight players put points on the board this game, starting with Brayden Roots-15, Yousef Diab-13, Nathan Nelson-8 (two of them 3-pointers), Andrew Cadiz-7, Kweisi Kumeh-3, Braydon Hatzenbuhler-3, Elliott Hawker-2 and Troy Jackson-2.

Troy Jackson had the most rebounds with 9 and, when asked how he got so many, responded, “I boxed out and with the help of my teammates,” said Jackson; “we needed this win. We have to win out so we can get a playoff game.”
