With four touchdowns by Arthur Draeger and an interception returned for a touchdown by Hunter Maberto, the Liberty Ranch Hawks cruised to their first win of the football season at home against Bear River.

Draeger rushed for 201 yards and four touchdowns, Kinyaa’aanii Nuno and Maberto had nine tackles apiece and Erik Salas and Adrian Lopez had one sack apiece for the Hawks.

Logan McCreery aided the Hawks’ win by being a perfect five for five in point after kick attempt.

The win evened the Hawks’ record to 1-1.

Hawk head coach Anthony Linebaugh noted the Hawks’ potential to grow despite the win.

“We got off to a good start. We had a good half. We’re a young team and we have much room for growth,” Linebaugh said afterward. “I’m proud and happy that the boys got a win, it’s cliché but we have a lot of work to do. We did show improvement from week one to week two and that’s all we ask.”

The Hawks’ next game is Friday against Tokay at home against 7:30 p.m.

It was a team win. We had a lot of really good performances. Our quarterback play improved. We have two really good guys that are working at that position. The offensive line, I definitely want to highlight their improvement from last week.

When asked about the strong points of the team this year, Linebaugh pointed to the team’s youth.

“Youth, enthusiasm and a lot of potential to be good,” said Linebaugh.
