Two wins over El Dorado in one day gave the Galt Lady Warriors a winning league record and put them in prime position for the playoffs with eight games remaining.

The Lady Warriors defeated El Dorado 27-1 on April 12 in game two of a doubleheader and shut out the Lady Cougars 13-0 in game one. They also defeated Bradshaw Christian 11-1 on April 10 for a successful week of league play

The win brought the Lady Warriors’ Sierra Valley Conference record to 4-3 and they are 4-7 overall as they ride their three-game win streak into Monday’s game against Liberty Ranch on Liberty Ranch’s home field at the Galt Sports Complex at 3:30 p.m.

In the Lady Warriors’ 27-1 win, Kaylyn Mathews went 3 for 3 with four runs and three RBI, Sophia Pate went 3 for 4 with three RBI and two runs and Samantha Graham went 2 for 4 with three RBI and four runs, but the entire Lady Warriors lineup contributed in some way.

Haley Sanchez hit a home run, Alyssa Hardwick hit a triple and five players hit doubles.

Mathews earned the complete-game win after giving up three hits and one unearned run as well as two walks. Mathews struck out three.

In game one of the doubleheader, the Lady Warriors scored twice in the bottom of the first inning, went on a six-run scoring binge in the fourth inning and scored five more in the fifth to end the game. Emily McCalla went 3 for 3 with two RBI and two runs, Pate went 2 for 3 with three RBI and three runs and Hailey Jaime went 2 for 4 with two RBI.

Jaime picked up the win after holding El Dorado to one hit and two walks in addition to striking out two.

With the wins, the Lady Warriors are on track to beat their 2018 league win total (the 2018 squad went 5-10 in the SVC).

At this same point last year, the Lady Warriors were 1-5 in league.
