The Galt Warriors tied the score in their CIF Nor Cal boys soccer playoff game in the second half against Harker to send the game into overtime, but nearly two and a half hours after it started, the Galt Warriors lost in a shoot-out in San Jose.
Harker led 1-0 before the Warriors tied the score, forcing the game into overtime. When the game went into penalty kicks, Harker outscored the Warriors 5-4 to win the first round of the playoffs.
The Warriors had hoped to break their NorCal curse of losing in the first round but after being moved up to Division 3, their task increased in the level of competition.
Galt was the fifth seed while Harker, the fourth seed, moved into the semi-finals against first seed Ygnacio Valley.
Harker ended up defeating Ygnacio Valley in a shootout March 5 before losing to second seed East Union in the D 3 Championship, 2-0.
The Warriors ended the season 22-3-1, with the Sierra Valley Conference Championship and a second-place finish in the Sac-Joaquin Section D 3 Championship, as well as their third straight appearance in the CIF tournament.
