Liberty Ranch boys basketball played their first game at home last Tuesday against Amador. The boys didn’t give Amador much of a chance and did nothing short of annihilating them 73-16.
It was a great opportunity for the coach to get everyone in the game and show their skills. This year the defending SVC Section champions have 10 members on their roster. Six of those are seniors: Brayden Roots, Nathan Nelson, Kweisi Kumeh, Braydon Hatzenbuhler, Matthew Overall and Troy Jackson. Juniors Ryan Martin, Andrew Cadiz and Yousef Diab join them with sophomore Elliot Hawker.
This past weekend they played in a tournament where they lost to Central Catholic 21-57, lost to Mountain House 39-49, but scored a win against Golden Valley 63-39.
Head Coach Brian Chavez has been working on their skills. “I am looking forward to this team coming together and continuing to improve over the course of this season.”
Nate Nelson, who is in his fourth year playing varsity for Liberty Ranch, is optimistic about his senior and final Hawk season. “I am looking forward to working together as a team, “ said Nelson, “hopefully finding some success and having fun with my bros.”
They play against Ripon Christian this Wednesday in the Mark Gallo Invitational at Central Catholic.
