When it’s a game where hometown rivals play, you can be sure there will always be a full house. The Galt vs. Liberty game was exactly that. It was a match filled with ups and downs and both teams gave exuberant effort. In the end it was a victory for Liberty Ranch that kept their winning streak alive.

Liberty Ranch swept the sets 25-8, 25-7, 25-20.

Coach Mark Snow was looking forward to the crosstown match.  “This match against Galt was really big for us because winning it clinched the league title with only one match left,” said Snow. “This is the first Liberty Ranch team to win the title outright. With a win on Monday, this team will be 23-8, which is the best record ever by a Hawk volleyball team. Senior Night on Monday is going to be fun and we are looking to continue to play solid volleyball to secure our undefeated league season.”

Liberty Ranch freshman Haley Smith led with 10 kills against the Warriors followed by Paityn Snow-9, Rachel Smith-8, Mady Truelock-4 and Sara Carotti-1. Serving the aces were Rachel Smith with 5, Carlie McCormick-4, Paityn Snow-2, Sofia Munoz-1, and Haley Smith-1.

The Hawks now have a 22-8 record (10-0 league). They put it on the line next when they host Union Mine for a Sierra Valley Conference test on Monday, Oct. 17. Liberty Ranch will confront a Diamondbacks team coming off its 3-1 league loss to El Dorado. The Diamondbacks record now stands at 6-10.
