Cristian Martinez won the SVC Championship for the Hawks’ varsity boys cross-country team Oct. 30.

With no other runner even breaking the 16-minute barrier in Folsom, Cristian Martinez won the Sierra Valley Conference Championship easily for his sixth cross-country win this season.

Martinez, a senior at Liberty Ranch, won with his time of 15:37 in the three-mile race.

His teammate, Braden Birkes, added to the Hawks’ strong performance with a third place finish at 16:11, while Raghav Vasudevan, a sophomore, placed ninth with a time of 16:56.

Martinez, Birkes and Vasudevan all earned All-League for finishing within the top 10 at the race.

For the varsity girls, Xianna Morales finished ninth with her time of 21:43 and won All-League for her performance.

Timothy Corcoran was the Hawks’ top finisher in the two-mile JV boys race at 14:11, while the Hawks did not compete in the JV girls race.

The Hawks will next start the postseason Saturday when they travel to Frogtown for the Sac-Joaquin Sub-Section meet at 9 a.m.
