Astril Najar Meza

Astril Najar Meza signs her letter of intent at William Jessup on March 16.

On March 16, 2020, Astril Najar Meza was officially signed by the William Jessup Warriors. The outfielder, a 2018 Liberty Ranch graduate and former Hawk softball player who went on to continue her education at Sierra College were she has been playing for the Wolverines.

Najar Meza started playing softball at a late age. The first time she stepped on to the softball field was at the age of 13 while playing for Galt Parks and Rec Youth Sport Activities. After playing rec, she wanted to try out and see if she can make it into a competitive travel team. At the age of 14, she was offered a spot in Galt Elite’s 14U Travel Team where the dream of playing high school was now a possibility. After a few tournaments with Galt Elite Softball team, her dream of playing for a university was just that, a dream.

In her senior year with the Hawks, she batted .333, had 11 hits, 18 runs and eight RBI. As a junior, she had six hits and seven RBI as well as 14 runs in 22 games.

Najar Meza went on and played for the Hawks all four years of high school. As a senior she committed to the Sierra Collage Wolverines, and now the dream of playing for a university has become a reality.
