The 47th annual Optimist High School Baseball All Star games are set for June 9. They will be held at McAuliffe Fields, State University Drive E, Sacramento, CA 95819. Game one (Small Schools teams) will start at 10 a.m. Game 2 (Large Schools teams) will start at 11 a.m. General admission is $10; seniors (65+) $8; Students $5; and kids under 12 $3. Over flow parking on the California State University Sacramento campus is $6. Permits may be purchased at self-serve kiosks throughout the parking lots. Parking rules are enforced 24 hours a day.

The North Small Schools team is coached by Tony Madrigal from Placer High School, and assisted by Graylon Duncan from Lincoln High School. The South Small Schools team is coached by Troy Quirollo from Valley High School and assisted by Frank Valdez from Valley High School, Randy Davis from Florin High School, Robby Mashburn from Florin High School, and Martin Escoto from Florin High School.

The North Large Schools team is coached by Craig Marquez from Pioneer High School, and assisted by Dave Rodriguez from Yuba City High School, Joe Whitehead from Woodland High School, Shea Davis from Yuba City High School, Richard Church from Pioneer High School, and Dane Gallagher from Woodland High School. The South Large Schools team is coached by Mathew McGrew from Sheldon High School, and assisted by Anthony Bothelo from Sheldon High School, Bryan Kilby from Franklin High School, Stu Clary from Vacaville High School, and Derek Mayer from Laguna Creek High School.

The Optimist All Star games provide the top senior athletes of Sacramento and Greater Sacramento the venue to showcase their skills and prowess. Their selection is to honor them and their schools, and reflects the culmination of their hard work, diligence, and excellence in this sport and school, as well as their coach’s commitment toward their players’ endeavors. The proceeds from this event will solely be used for youth programs and projects in the Sacramento and Greater Sacramento areas.
