Katie Schwarze is the ninth athlete at Liberty Ranch to sign her letter of intent to play her sport at a university in the fall. All nine of those seniors that signed this year happened to be females.

Schwarze, who has been swimming since was four, was all-league this year in both the 100m butterfly and the 100m freestyle. Katie was part of the athletic senate at Liberty Ranch.

“It has been my dream since I was little to swim in college,” said Schwarze. “It is great to be able to keep my swim career going, and I want to thank everyone for being a part of that process.”

Principal Joe Saramago had a word for Schwarze at her signing. “Congratulations, I am so proud of you,” said Saramago. “This is an amazing accomplishment and an exciting time for you and your family, and thank you for letting us share this with you.”

Swarze will be swimming at San Jose State, which is a NCAA Division 1 university.
